2018 Season - Week 23 (Cont)

2018, the Highest Scoring Season Ever

As mentioned already, Johnnie continues to be the All-Time Leading Points Scorer (Regular Season only) and his position was strengthened by winning his fifth Premiership title with his highest season total. He scored 36 points more than his previous high of 584, 2009’s Premiership winning score. He beat Marcus by 47 points, Marcus’ total of 573 was the highest ever for a runner-up and the10th highest score in the BUMS 24 year history. Johnnie’s total of 620 ranks as the fourth highest season score ever behind Chief’s 2011 Papas clinching 635 points when he bettered Craig by 126, the second biggest Premiership victory. Andy H’s total of 635 from 2007 (the year he had the Tom Brady & Randy Moss connection) remains the highest Premiership score ever and that year he beat runner-up Johnnie by 131 points. However in 2013 Marcus selected Peyton Manning with the second overall pick (Dave G took Drew Brees at #1) and when Manning threw seven Tds against the defending Superbowl champion Baltimore Ravens defense in week 1, notice was served. He went on to throw an NFL record 55 TDs and score 171 BUMS points and combined with Jamaal Charles (114), Greg Zuerlein (112) and Jimmy Graham (96) as Marcus won the Conference ahead of Craig by 134 points, setting the BUMS Single Season Scoring record with 672 points. However despite that, this season we combined to score the most points in a season across the last 24 years of the BUMS, beating the 7,367 total points we amassed in 2012 (an average of 460.44 points per owner). As well as Johnnie’s fourth and Marcus’ 10th all-time highest scores, Daz won the Conference with the 12th highest score (558, second highest score in the 17 years of the Conference) and Craig’s 554 was the best ever third place total in the Premiership and 23rd highest all-time score. With 12 visits to the Weekly scoring Hall of Fame from 7 different owners in 2018 we totalled 7,480 points, congratulations to all. It was also the best ever average score per owner with 467.5 points. Were you above average? A Week Is A Long Time in the BUMS Attached is the favourite chart of the year giving a graphical view of your position in the league table each week. Only two people led the Premiership, Marcus through to week 7 and again in weeks 14 & 15 and Johnnie the rest of the weeks including crucially at the end of the final week. At the bottom, Wayne was 7th after week 1 and then in the drop zone the rest of the season and George never got higher than 9th while David Stamp spent the first 2 weeks 5th, then a week at 7 before dropping into the relegation zone and never climbed out. Daz led the Conference for every week bar week 2 when Mark was top. Both were never out of the top 3 while AP was bottom until week 9 eventually passing Mark for 2nd in the final week. Both Alex & Dave G spent a month in the promotion zone but will remain in the Conference again next year. How high did you fly, how low did you go?
